Universal Studios has claimed rights to produce the God Of War film, which has been in its planning stages for a couple of years now. It's also rumored that the creators and directors of the God Of War video games will closely monitor the movie's progress if it's to be made, as a sort of quality control over what trancends onto the big screen.

No news has come out regarding directors or possible actors, which leaves the role of Kratos open to numerous people who may resemble him. David Jaffe (creator of God Of War) has said that he would love to see the movie and would also like to see Djimon Honsou take on the role of Kratos.

While no news has come out about the movie for a long time now, it's speculated that it will start pre-production sometime after the third God Of War videogame, which is due in stores sometime in 2009. This would give potential directors a birds-eye view upon the entire storyline and a better idea concerning elements that should be incorporated into the flick.

If done right, God Of War has the potential to become a major box-office success, and if a trilogy is shot, it may very well stand tall with the likes of Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars.
